This class focuses on the fundamentals of music: ear training, healthy singing, intonation, reading music, singing in parts, beat-keeping, solfege*, reading rhythms, focus, concentration, and improvisation. Explorers I is an active game-oriented learning environment, engaging motor, oral, aural, and cognitive abilities. This is a non-auditioned, non-performing group.

Two separate classes of Explorers I are offered on ten consecutive Monday evenings beginning mid-September for the fall semester and continuing in early January for ten more weeks.  Both classes of Explorers 1  are taught by Maggie Hagy.  Please note the NEW class times:

Group A:  Mondays, 5:00-5:40 pm

Group B:  Mondays, 6:00-6:40 pm

*Solfege is a technique for the teaching of sight singing in which each note of the score is sung to a special syllable, called a solfege syllable. Each solfege syllable has a hand sign that goes with it. These hand signs add physical and visual cues to what’s going on in your ear and voice.
