Puerto Rico - 2025

From June 9–16, thirty-nine members of SVCC’s Concert Choir, accompanied by nine chaperones and four staff members, traveled to Puerto Rico for sightseeing and a special collaboration with the renowned children’s choir Coro de Niños de San Juan and their talented directors, María Gabriela Fernández-Cerra and María Alejandra Fernández-Cerra. In addition to performing together at the beautiful Parroquia Stella Maris Catholic Church, the choristers explored Puerto Rico’s musical heritage by learning about la plena rhythms in a Tito Matos drum workshop led by master drummer Emanuel Santana on Friday, June 13. The trip also offered plenty of adventure, including snorkeling, kayaking, hiking in El Yunque rainforest, ziplining, and, of course, enjoying delicious Puerto Rican cuisine!
